Taking cues from the WRX concept The next generation of the Subaru Legacy was spied undergoing testing somewhere in Europe ahead of next year's launch as a 2015MY. Despite the heavy amount of camouflage this prototype is wearing, we can tell the new Legacy will adopt some styling cues from the attractive WRX concept shown earlier this year at New York Auto Show. Expect to see a coupe-like profile, a rectangular front grille, C-shaped taillights and a dual exhaust arrangement while symmetrical all-wheel drive will be standard. Under the hood it will most likely have a 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine for the entry-level 2.5i model where it will probably output 173 bhp (129 kW) as in the facelifted current-gen Legacy. The engine will work as standard with a six-speed manual or with an optional CVT. The 2015 Subaru Legacy should also get a 2.5GT model packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rather than the previous 2.5-liter motor. This 2.0-liter engine can already be seen in the 2014 Forester where it puts out 250 bhp (186 kW). Chances are there will also be a hybrid derivative which will be a replacement for the six-cylinder 3.6R Legacy. The interior cabin is likely to be overhauled and will adopt a less cluttered layout along with improved materials. It will be unveiled towards the end of 2014 before going on sale in the first part of 2015. |
